Ambitions: Two Interviews With Grant Rodiek

GameSpot has posted a new Q&A with associate producer Grant Rodiek, focusing on the creative careers in The Sims 3 Ambitions:

GS: How does the tattoo artist career develop over time? Do you end up unlocking more elaborate tattoos as you advance? Any possibility for full-body or “sleeve” tattoos?

GR: The tattoo chair is an object your sim can use to earn a bit of side money; most of the creativity comes at the hands of the player picking the tattoos. All of them are unlocked from the start, so the only limiting factor is the player’s creativity and the occasional “failure tattoo.”

NowGamer has also questioned Grant, discussing some more general topics such as this:

Do you think we’ll ever see the Sims distributed in a different way, such as returning to the online MMO model?
Currently we’re focused 100% on The Sims 3 and The Sims 3 Ambitions. The Sims 3 really took off in 2009 and we plan to continue that momentum with fantastic updates for our fantastic community.

…Though it is mostly about Ambitions, particularly the creative careers again.

“The Sims 3: Commemorative Edition” Spotted On

“The Sims 3: Commemorative Edition” has been spotted on shopping website, with no other details bar a price of £29.99 and a release date of 4th June 2010. The Sims 3 Ambitions is planned to be released in June – is this to “commemorate” the launch of that? Or the 10th anniversary? Or 125 million (or more by now) copies sold? I’ll tell you when I find out.

New Ambitions Screenshots

EA has posted a new The Sims 3 Ambitions screenshot onto their The Sims 3 Facebook group, which shows a robot (servo?) walking in the background, and also included two in their blog (see further down), showing a woman measuring and a guy showing off their tattoo:

UK Ambitions Box Art In “Slightly Different” Shocker

I’ve found the UK box art for The Sims 3 Ambitions on EA UK’s press website – and it’s slightly different to the US one. Namely, the ghost in the top-right is more weird-looking (I would say anyway), the bottom-middle bit has another Sim, a completely different robot, and the Sim working on it is holding what looks like a chip rather than a blowtorch-thing, and in the bottom-right bit there’s no heart in the x-ray thing (plus the Sim being x-ray-ed in male rather than female), plus a few other more cosmetic tweaks. Compare them below (UK one on the left, US on the right, click either to view larger):

New Ambitions Blog Details Day In The Life Of Architect, Stylist, Tattooist

A new “blog” has been posted on, detailing a day in the life of an architectural designer, a stylist and a tattooist in The Sims 3 World Adventures:

My Sim, Grant Duders, has made a name for himself in the community as an up and coming Architectural Designer. However, he doesn’t have enough clout to land high paying jobs like Home Re-Modelling or Kitchen Re-Designs.  Thankfully, a local sports enthusiast is keen to have THE room for watching athletic events with friends. As a male, Grant Duders understands the macho psyche and feels up to the task.

There are two ways to view the article - as a news post on UK (first link below), or as its own page (second link). For the former, scroll down to the post titled “The Sims 3 Ambitions Blog”. The latter may not work if your language on there is not set to English > United States - if you're in the US, and have never touched the select language link, that's the easiest route.
