IGN Ambitions Preview Reveals Create A Pattern Tool, Free Update To Base Game

IGN has posted the first (as far as I’m aware) hands-on preview of The Sims 3 Ambitions, but its biggest revelations will be free. As with World Adventures, EA will release a new free update for The Sims 3 (base game) adding new features, including the option for Sims to declare themselves as self-employed, so those that create paintings for a living (for example) can stop having their job as “unemployed”, plus “more options with customizing a neighborhood, and increased build/buy features”, both of which aren’t really elaborated on. The ability to give Sims tattoos will also be made available in the base game via the update, but the tattoos available this way will be “limited” compared to in Ambitions. EA will also release a “Create a Pattern” tool, which, as the name suggests, will allow users to create patterns for use in the game though the Create a Style tool using custom imported images. This will be made available as a free download on TheSims3.com for registered users on 28th July.

Anyway, even having read my “summary” above, the preview itself is still worth a read, so check it out:

GamesRadar Takes Us Behind The Scenes At The Sims Studio

GamesRadar has posted a new feature going behind the scenes at The Sims Studio, with lots of photos including one of Grant Rodiek and his desk:

They were at the studio for an “early peek” at The Sims 3 Ambitions, but they haven't been able to release their preview yet – still, something to look forward to, right?

Current Poll Extended To 15th May

I have again extended the current poll, asking whether you have bought or are planning to get The Sims 3 Design & High-Tech Stuff / High-End Loft Stuff, this time to 15th May. If there’s actually been enough votes by then, the 15th is when I’ll reveal the results and a new poll will begin. Not voted yet? Well why the Hell not!? Do it now – to the right of any page.

Renault Twizy Z.E. And Bonus EV Pack Now Available

The Renault Twizy Z.E. concept car and the “bonus EV pack” are now available to download for free from the UK The Sims 3 Store. See the earlier post for a video of the car in the game and a link to screenshots. US and Canadian visitors should note before downloading that the terms suggest you aren’t allowed to do so.

EA Paradies Iron Man In New Ambitions Video

EA has released a video parodying Iron Man 2 and other super heroes created in The Sims 3 and its expansion packs, including Ambitions. They used the robot that you can create in Ambitions to represent Iron Man himself. Watch it below:
