Latest Generations Reviews: AtomicGamer

Sunday 26th June 2011 | 2:41 pm UK time | Categories

AtomicGamer brings us the one new The Sims 3 Generations review today, rating it eight out of 10:

With its reputation system and life stages, Generations is a solid, if not stellar, expansion. Its features are more subtle than those of previous expansions, being more behavioral than item-oriented and because of this, gamers looking for a slew of new locations or a truckload of new furniture are likely to be disappointed.

The Ranking at GameRankings has gone up a little to 77.25% based on eight reviews and the Metascore at Metacritic has gone up one point to 71 (“Mixed or average reviews”) based on 11 reviews.

Latest Generations Reviews: El33tonline, GameSpot

Friday 24th June 2011 | 6:13 pm UK time | Categories

Two new The Sims 3 Generations reviews today, starting with El33tonline who rated it a “Good!” three stars out of five:

If you are a Sims fan this expansion will surely be of great appeal and I can recommend it for all the little, nearly imperceptible changes. Everyone else should wait for the Sims 3 Complete Collection Chest and install it all at once.

> The Sims 3 Generations review at El33tonline

GameSpot rated it a “fair” 6.5 out of 10:

Glitches aside, Generations adds entertaining moments to a franchise that turns routine duties, like taking showers and tossing salads, into compelling delights, but these new moments are too infrequent and unexceptional to justify the high price tag.

GameSpot’s review includes a game play video which you can also watch here if you don’t fancy reading the review:

The Ranking at GameRankings has gone down a bit to 76.86% based on seven reviews, while the Metascore at Metacritic remains at 70 (“Mixed or average reviews”) now based on 10 reviews.

StrategyInformer brings us the latest The Sims 3 Generations review, rating it 7.5 out of 10:

As we said, on its own Generations isn’t going to do much for your experience, but in conjunction with everything else it just makes for a more interesting experience. The Sims 3 was always going to be a long term investment – and this is just one more step on the road.

The Metascore at Metacritic remains at 70, but now based on eight reviews, while The Ranking at GameRankings continues to be 76.00% based on five reviews.

Latest Generations Reviews: GamesRadar

Sunday 19th June 2011 | 8:30 pm UK time | Categories

GamesRadar brings us the latest The Sims 3 Generations review, rating it a “decent” six out of 10:

But what’s there doesn’t always feel like enough to justify this full price of an expansion pack, especially when so much has been added in past products. Unless you’re desperate to add a little life to your sims’ youth, you might be able to pass on this one.

The review contains five new screenshots, which you can also view over on the game page if you prefer.

Pets Limited Edition Explained

Saturday 18th June 2011 | 10:34 pm UK time | Categories

A producer of The Sims 3 Pets has explained the limited edition version of the expansion on the forums at TheSims3.com:

For players who choose to purchase the Limited Edition, they’ll be getting a cool venue for their Sims to visit that we feel is a great reason to preorder. The Pet Store venue will be a place for Sims to go to purchase objects for their pet to use, it is not where you get the pets themselves. Alternatively, if you prefer to wait for reviews or buy the game on sale, you won’t be missing out – you’ll simply buy your pet objects from the catalog instead.

He goes on to answer quite a few questions in a large Q&A.
