This Is The End

Sunday 21st April 2013 | 8:12 pm UK time | Categories

After more than nine years, this is the end of me covering The Sims games on the internet — Danny’s The Sims Website will no longer be updated. Tomorrow I start a new full time job — keeping this website up-to-date will make it even more of a struggle than it already will be to do everything I want to do. If there is anyone out there who’s been following my news updates, I’m sorry about this, and hope you find an alternative source for your news fix.

Thank you for your understanding
Danny Cox

University Life Reviews Wrap-Up

Sunday 21st April 2013 | 7:29 pm UK time | Categories

It’s been more than a month since the first The Sims 3 University Life review was posted, so now is a good time to wrap-up my reviews coverage. As usual, this means seeing how it compares to previous expansion packs through the medium of Metacritic and GameRankings.

The Metascore at Metacritic stands at 74, “Mixed or average reviews”, based on eight reviews. This is the same ‘score attained by Supernatural, Late Night and Ambitions, and higher than that attained by Seasons (73), Showtime (67) and Generations (70).

Comparing to The Sims 2 expansion packs, Bon Voyage and FreeTime have the same ‘score, while all the others are higher. The full list of Metascores is at the bottom of this post — click read more if you can’t see them.

The Ranking at GameRankings stands at 80.60%, based on five reviews. Only Late Night and World Adventures have higher Rankings than this. In fact, this is a higher Ranking than all The Sims 2 expansion packs have too. Again, the full list of Ranking is at the bottom of this post — click read more if you can’t see them.

New Blog Post Discusses The Beach And Scuba Diving In Island Paradise

Thursday 18th April 2013 | 10:32 pm UK time | Categories

The Sims 3 Island Paradise assistant producer Theresa Chen has posted a new blog entry on TheSims3.com discussing the beach and scuba diving:

Also new to the beach is the Lifeguard Career. Lifeguards are the sworn protectors of the beaches they watch over. While on duty, a Lifeguard’s job is to survey the beach for any swimming Sims in need of assistance. When a Sim is struggling at sea, the Lifeguard races to the rescue, helping drowning Sims back to shore and performing CPR if needed. However, not all alerts are real emergencies; some Sims may be inclined to “fake it” in order to get some one-on-one time with the Lifeguard on duty.

Latest University Life Reviews: Gaming Nexus

Saturday 6th April 2013 | 12:01 pm UK time | Categories

Gaming Nexus brings us the latest The Sims 3 University Life review, rating it a “Class Leading” 8.8 out of 10:

In comparison with past expansion packs, The Sims 3  University Life provides a wide range of varied and  worthwhile content that’s a great addition to any fan’s  base game. The extensive amount of added activities and  social interactions make up for the few oddities while  attending class. No matter if an individual prefers to  study or party, The Sims 3 University Life has something  for every Sims fan.

Latest University Life Reviews: Game Vortex

Monday 1st April 2013 | 5:07 pm UK time | Categories

The latest The Sims 3 University Life review comes from Game Vortex, who rated it 95%:

The Sims 3: University Life really adds a lot of new features to The Sims 3. There’s a whole lot that I haven’t even had a chance to try yet, like the new science and street art skills. If you’re looking for new features to add to your The Sims 3 game, I highly recommend the The Sims 3: University Life expansion!

Metacritic now has enough reviews to give a weighted average, while GameRankings now has enough reviews for it to be worth reporting its Ranking. The Metascore at Metacritic currently stands at 67 (“Mixed or average reviews”) based on four reviews, while The Ranking at GameRankings currently stands at 78.75% also based on four reviews.
