How The Sims 3 Worlds Are Created

Wednesday 25th April 2012 | 10:43 pm UK time | Categories

A behind-the-scenes look at how The Sims 3’s worlds are created has been posted on TheSims.com:

Creating the worlds of The Sims 3 is an exciting process. It takes many talented people and a lot of work to turn a single idea into an entire world. Teams of model makers, concept artists, designers, directors, and animators expand a simple concept into buildings, hairstyles, and everything in between. Together, they create the distinctive looks of The Sims 3!

GamesRadar Lists Their 19 Favourite Woohoo Spots In The Sims 3

Tuesday 17th April 2012 | 8:39 pm UK time | Categories

As part of their week of love, GamesRadar has listed their top 19 favourite places to woohoo in The Sims 3:

The Sims series has come a long way since the tame days of the first game in the series. Those no-fun prudes would barely go near each other unless it involved making a baby. Things loosened up when the concept of WooHooing was introduced in The Sims 2, and with The Sims 3 and its six expansions, Sims are presented with over a dozen zany places to get it on.

> “Sims WooHoo spots – Our 19 favorite places to love our fellow Sim” at GamesRadar

As mentioned in the introduction to that article, The Sims 3 also featured in their top 7 “game characters we (seriously) fell in love with” with “Your neighbor in The Sims” at number 4:

It started off plainly enough: our neighbor came over for a housewarming party once we moved in, and we told them a few jokes. But then they came over again and the jokes became flirts. And then the flirts became more flirts. And then they slapped us, but then the jokes became more flirts. Cut to a few months later and we were married, pumping out kids like no one’s business.

Pets Reviews Wrap-Up

Wednesday 23rd November 2011 | 6:13 pm UK time | Categories

It’s time to wrap-up my The Sims 3 Pets reviews coverage. Unlike previous times, I’ll only be comparing the Metascore at Metacritic, as The Ranking at GameRankings is still only based on three reviews which isn’t really enough for a fair comparison. Among The Sims 3 expansion packs, Pets has the second highest Metascore at 79 (“Generally favorable reviews”) after World Adventures (81). It’s five points higher than Late Night and Ambitions, and a whole nine points higher than Generations. It doesn’t beat the base game which stands at 86, but neither has any previous expansion pack. If we compare it to The Sims 2 expansion packs, Pets looks better and better, as its ‘score is higher than every single one expect University! Click “Read more” or scroll down if you’re already on the full article page for a list of all the games mentioned and their Metascores.

This concludes my reviews coverage — I will not post news about any more reviews. Any reviews I come across will still be added to the game page though, a change that will of course be noted on the Updates page.

Latest Pets Reviews: El33tonline

Friday 11th November 2011 | 4:08 pm UK time | Categories

There’s finally another The Sims 3 Pets review, and it comes from El33tonline, who rated it an “Excellent!” four stars out of five:

The extra level of interactions that Pets provide changes the way you play the Sims… again. This is by no means a bad thing as it keeps things fresh. The game you end up with after all the expansions is now a very different experience, and in my opinion a much more complete and fuller game.

The Metascore at Metacritic has gone back down a point since last time to 79 (“Generally favorable reviews”) based on nine reviews.

ABC7 Gets A Look Behind The Scenes Of Testing Pets

Wednesday 9th November 2011 | 2:22 pm UK time | Categories

ABC7 has featured a report on game testing that focused on The Sims 3 Pets. As well as an actual tester discussing his job, the report also features Graham Nardone (or “Mardone” as they think he’s called). Apparently they spent nearly a year testing it! The reporter only talks about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to start with but the bulk of the report is on Pets:

Latest Pets Reviews: Video Game Writers

Wednesday 2nd November 2011 | 2:51 pm UK time | Categories

Today’s The Sims 3 Pets review comes from Video Game Writers, who rated it three stars out of five:

If you’ve been dying to let your Sims play with a puppy or learn to ride a horse, or stare at a snake for an hour, then this is the expansion pack for you. If you’re a casual player, there may not be enough here to warrant the purchase, nor will it particularly suck you in.

This review is mostly based on the Mac version with a bit on the Xbox 360 version.

The Metascore at Metacritic has gone up two points since last time to 80 (“Generally favorable reviews”) based on seven reviews.

Latest Pets Reviews: GamesRadar, You?

Saturday 29th October 2011 | 2:20 pm UK time | Categories

The latest The Sims 3 Pets review wasn’t written by a human — GamesRadar’s resident horse has rated it an “awesome” nine out of 10:

There’s really no other way to put it. The Sims 3: Pets is the best expansion released since the series first launched in 2009. Trust me. I’m a horse and I know what I’m talking about. Even non-horses will enjoy hearing their steed’s gentle clip-clops as you trot through Appaloosa Plains and explore it from the perspective of a pet.

The review contains three new screenshots which you can also view on the game page if you prefer.

Latest Pets Reviews: The Gamer Access

Thursday 27th October 2011 | 1:02 pm UK time | Categories

Today’s The Sims 3 Pets review comes from The Gamer Access, who have given it a rating of 8.0 out of 10:

My overall experience with Pets was outstanding. A week straight of it and I’m still going to be playing it avidly. Having played every expansion since the very first release in 2000, I am quite the addict. There are very few things I would change if I could; adding more items and clothing for the actual Sims is one, and maybe pet clothing? If you are a fan of the Sims, or ever wanted to digitally sniff someone, I do encourage you to pick up this expansion and start making your pet masterpieces today!

The review contains five new screenshots, which you can also view on the game page if you prefer (when they appear shortly).
