University Life Reviews Wrap-Up

Sunday 21st April 2013 | 7:29 pm UK time | Categories

It’s been more than a month since the first The Sims 3 University Life review was posted, so now is a good time to wrap-up my reviews coverage. As usual, this means seeing how it compares to previous expansion packs through the medium of Metacritic and GameRankings.

The Metascore at Metacritic stands at 74, “Mixed or average reviews”, based on eight reviews. This is the same ‘score attained by Supernatural, Late Night and Ambitions, and higher than that attained by Seasons (73), Showtime (67) and Generations (70).

Comparing to The Sims 2 expansion packs, Bon Voyage and FreeTime have the same ‘score, while all the others are higher. The full list of Metascores is at the bottom of this post — click read more if you can’t see them.

The Ranking at GameRankings stands at 80.60%, based on five reviews. Only Late Night and World Adventures have higher Rankings than this. In fact, this is a higher Ranking than all The Sims 2 expansion packs have too. Again, the full list of Ranking is at the bottom of this post — click read more if you can’t see them.

Gaming Nexus brings us the latest The Sims 3 University Life review, rating it a “Class Leading” 8.8 out of 10:

In comparison with past expansion packs, The Sims 3  University Life provides a wide range of varied and  worthwhile content that’s a great addition to any fan’s  base game. The extensive amount of added activities and  social interactions make up for the few oddities while  attending class. No matter if an individual prefers to  study or party, The Sims 3 University Life has something  for every Sims fan.

The latest The Sims 3 University Life review comes from Game Vortex, who rated it 95%:

The Sims 3: University Life really adds a lot of new features to The Sims 3. There’s a whole lot that I haven’t even had a chance to try yet, like the new science and street art skills. If you’re looking for new features to add to your The Sims 3 game, I highly recommend the The Sims 3: University Life expansion!

Latest University Life Reviews: Lazygamer

Wednesday 20th March 2013 | 12:02 pm UK time | Categories

More than a week after the last one, there’s finally another The Sims 3 University Life review — Lazygamer rated it 7.5 out of 10:

If you are not a fan of leaving your Sims’ house and  going away on a mini-adventure, especially a time  consuming one such as this, you may not enjoy all that  University Life has to offer. However, there are real  benefits that Sims can gain from completing a degree (or  two!), including being wealthier and having more  ‘personality’.

Latest University Life Reviews: GamesRadar

Tuesday 12th March 2013 | 11:34 am UK time | Categories

The latest The Sims 3 University Life review comes from GamesRadar, who rated it a “Mediocre” two and a half stars out of five:

In many ways, The Sims 3: University Life does a great job of replicating those wild college years. However,  what works in real life doesn’t always make for  compelling gameplay. The classes, parties, finals, streaking, and keg stands are great touches, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’ll spend a lot of time with your finger on the speed up command, and your family at home may as well not exist in the meantime.

The latest The Sims 3 University Life review comes from GameZone, who rated it a “Great” 8.5 out of 10:

The Sims 3 University Life is more than just a themed  expansion. It’s a refreshing add-on that will have  lasting effects beyond that of just your Sim’s college  career. More importantly, it’s a meaningful expansion  that fills a gap in The Sims 3 gameplay.

First University Life Reviews: Game Revolution

Wednesday 6th March 2013 | 12:27 pm UK time | Categories

The first The Sims 3 University Life review has arrived — Game Revolution has rated it 4.0 out of 5:

Among the stronger expansions for The Sims 3, University Life fills in the time gap missing from the series and offers enough depth to extend the life of every Sim meaningfully. In addition to introducing a new plant-based Sim type, the added social content broadens the interaction of the Sim universe.

GameZone Gets Some University Life Questions Answered

Tuesday 5th March 2013 | 11:29 am UK time | Categories

GameZone has posted an interview with The Sims 3 University Life producer Sarah Nelson:

Gamezone: Why a University Life expansion and why now? What made this the best time for this expansion?

Sarah Nelson: In conceptualizing our next expansion pack as a team, we felt that is was time for Sims to move into a new chapter of their lives. University made so much sense. We also took in feedback from our community of fans and university was one of the most requested themes they wanted to see.
