Supernatural Reviews Wrap-Up

Thursday 11th October 2012 | 3:09 pm UK time | Categories

It’s time to conclude my The Sims 3 Supernatural reviews, so now is a good time to see how this expansion compares to its predecessors through the medium of Metacritic and GameRankings.

The Metascore at Metacritic currently stands at 71, and there’s probably not much chance of that changing much now. This is lower than the base game’s ‘score of 86, but this is true of all the expansion packs. This is also lower though than most of the expansion packs, with only Showtime (67) and Generations (70) getting lower Metascores. It’s also lower than the ‘scores attained by all The Sims 2 expansion packs.

The probably pretty-much-final Ranking at GameRankings is 77.12%. This is lower than that attained by the base game, but no expansion pack has exceeded that. It’s higher than the Rankings attained by Showtime, Generations and Ambitions, but lower than the other three. Comparing to The Sims 2 expansion packs, this has a higher Ranking than Nightlife, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage and FreeTime, with only University, Open for Business and Apartment Life having higher Rankings.

See all the Metascores and Rankings attained in the sources lists at the bottom (click read more if you can’t see them).

So this concludes my reviews coverage — I will not post news about any future reviews I come across, but they will still be added to the game page with that update mentioned on the Updates page.

Latest Supernatural Reviews: Gametactics.com

Tuesday 9th October 2012 | 1:37 pm UK time | Categories

It’s been a while, but I’ve got a new The Sims 3 Supernatural review for you today — Gametactics.com has rated it eight out of 10:

I can really only recommend this to fans of the  supernatural, as the expansion completely alters the  game dynamics. If that’s you, then plenty of new modes  and customizations make this expansion well worth the  extra dough.

> “The Sims 3 Supernatural Add-on – Review (Windows PC)” at Gametactics.com

The Metascore at Metacritic has gone up a couple of points since last time to 71, “Mixed or average reviews”, based on 12 reviews, while The Ranking at GameRankings has also gone up a little to 77.12% based on eight reviews.

Latest Supernatural Reviews: TheGamersHub

Tuesday 25th September 2012 | 11:59 am UK time | Categories

TheGamersHub brings us the latest The Sims 3 Supernatural review, giving it four out of five:

Overall, however, there’s way more good in this game  than bad. It’s a ton of fun to play and I really enjoyed  it. Die-hard Sims fans who loved the way things were may  not enjoy it as much, but for those looking for some  extended casual fun this has great potential to be a  favorite game.

> “The Sims 3: Supernatural Review” at TheGamersHub

The Metascore at Metacritic has gone down a point to 68, “Mixed or average reviews”, based on 10 reviews, while The Rankling at GameRankings remains 76.71% based on seven reviews.

Latest Supernatural Reviews: The Gamer Scene

Monday 24th September 2012 | 2:17 pm UK time | Categories

The latest The Sims 3 Supernatural review comes from The Gamer Scene, who rated it the full five stars out of five:

This expansion had practically no downside for someone  wanting to add a little spice (or with regards to the  ghost chili, a LOT of spice) to their game, even if they  don’t want to experience the supernaturals.

> “The Sims 3: Supernatural Expansion Pack Review” at The Gamer Scene

The Metascore at Metacritic remains 69, “Mixed or average reviews”, based on 9 reviews, while The Ranking at GameRankings has gone up a bit to 76.71% based on seven reviews.

Latest Supernatural Reviews: NZGamer.com, IGN

Thursday 20th September 2012 | 2:31 pm UK time | Categories

Two new The Sims 3 Supernatural reviews today, with very different scores. NZGamer.com first, giving it a “Great” 8.5 out of 10:

I’ve been playing Supernatural for the better part of a  week now, and it’s still surprising and delighting me  with its cheery take on magic, horror and gothic. It’s  an expansion in the very best sense, and now up at the  top of my list of Sims 3 must-haves. Definitely  recommended.

> The Sims 3 Supernatural review at NZGamer.com

The second review comes from IGN, which has a very different opinion to other reviews so far (which have all been positive), giving it a “Bad” 4.5 out of 10:

Supernatural doesn’t augment your Sims or make the  neighborhood more interesting: it turns it into an unrecognizable mess that doesn’t even come close to resembling the “life simulator” it’s supposed to be.

> “The Sims 3: Supernatural Review” at IGN

Mostly as a result of that review, the Metascore at Metacritic has plunged five points to 69, “Mixed or average reviews”, based on nine reviews, and the Ranking at GameRankings has gone down from 77.50% last time to 73.33% based on six reviews.
