So, what's this "Sign In" nonsense about?

Well, it allows you to participate on the site by commenting on games and other articles and reviewing games and houses. Every comment or review is accompanied by a picture you specify and a link to a profile you create.

But I don't want to create yet another account

You may not have to. If you have a Google Account, Yahoo! Account, AIM account, Twitter account, Netlog or an OpenID, you're already set, and can just log in with that. If not, creating an account with one of them gives you access to lots of features across other websites too. To create a Google Account you only need to provide your email address.

I don't want people to know my real name either

Don't worry, you can specify a nick name or forum name instead.

What will appear on this "profile"?

Whatever you want. Your profile can have as little as just your name, picture and what websites you've joined (this is all powered by Google Friend Connect, and you can join other websites as well), or as much as all that plus some text about yourself, links to your favourite websites, and a list of recent activities (for instance, recent comments). If you prefer, you can even hide your profile completely (though doing so will make you basically anonymous).

Do I have to provide a picture?

No. There's a default one that you can use if you prefer.
