December 2006: One poll ends, another begins: It's that time again, so lets get on with
it.
First, the poll that
has ended: Which has been the best The Sims 2 Expansion so far? The answer is
Pets, according to 29.17% of you. To see the full results, go to the Quick Polls
page.
Now, the poll that
has just begun: What part of Seasons are you most looking forward to? Go to
almost any other page on the website to vote.

Friday 8th December
2006: Maxis/EA reveal The Sims 2 Seasons: Remember The Sims 1 expansion On
Holiday, where you could play in the snow of an ideal (though rare here in the
UK) winter? Well that's just one of the four seasons revealed today to be the
focus of the next The Sims 2 expansion pack. Simply (but appropriately) named
"Seasons", this expansion finally brings weather to the game - a feature seen in
early screenshots of the base game (it was removed due to problems getting it to
work I think). Find out more in the new Seasons section of The Sims 2 Expansion
Packs page. Also, the first screenshots have been added to the screenshots
section too.

December 2006: New Quick Poll, plus previous results: A new quick poll has begun, so a
previous poll must have ended.
Firstly, the
previous results. Last month I asked:
You can have cats and dogs
in Pets, but
which do you prefer?
Well, dogs have won, but not by too much - Dogs got 54.55%, while Cats got
45.45%. See the results in bar form, plus a rare comment, by going to the Quick
Polls page.
Now, the new poll.
This time, I want to know:
Which has been the best The Sims 2 Expansion so far?
Did/do you enjoy the Nightlife the most, going to Uni, opening your own
business, or buying a pet? Vote now on the Quick Poll page!

More Pets
Reviews: GameSpy and IGN have each added reviews of The Sims 2 Pets.
IGN says "Pets is
hands-down the least significant and useful of the Sims 2 expansion packs" and
"the lack of clothing options for human Sims and the lack of new,
non-pet-related objects really hurts", and give it 7.4 ("Decent") out of 10.
GameSpy says "the
real issue with [Pets] is that it doesn't contribute a lot of additional
gameplay" and "Unless you're really into dog breeding, nothing really
substantial is added to the core game". GameSpy gave Pets 3 out of 5 ("Fair")

Festive Holiday Stuff - And Happy Holiday Mini-Pack?: Here in the UK,
Festive Holiday Stuff, featuring "60 items of festive fun" seems to have been
released, as it is available at GAME, although there is no listing on either
EA's website, or The Sims 2 UK. According to TheSims2.com, it, known as "Happy
Holiday Stuff" over there, has not been released yet. There is something
interesting on the page that I got that from though, as it says that a "Mini
Pack" will also be released, so people who bought last year's holiday pack can
only get the new items, rather than paying for the main stuff pack which
contains mostly items from said previous pack.
