El33tonline Interviews Grand Rodiek… But Not About Late Night

Thursday 22nd July 2010 | 3:20 pm UK time | Categories

El33tonline has posted an exclusive  interview with The Sims 3 Late Night Associate Producer Grand Rodiek to “celebrate” the new expansion pack’s announcement… then proceed to ask no questions about it. Instead, such topics as whether “multiplayer deathmatch” will ever be introduced and whether Sims will ever go into space are discussed:

El33tonline: How many expansions can we expect for The Sims 3 before the decision for a full sequel is made?

Grand Rodiek: There isn’t a specified number or requirement. We want to continue to make amazing experiences that we haven’t done before and build upon the solid experience players have with The Sims 3. The Sims 3 is an amazing creative platform and there are a lot of really cool things to do still.

Late Night: First Official Details and Screenshots, Plus US Ship Date

Wednesday 21st July 2010 | 4:50 pm UK time | Categories

I’ve just found the The Sims 3 Late Night page on, and it has the first five screenshots and some official details, which can be seen over on my Late Night page. I think the screenshots may just be stills from the trailer, but they do give you the opportunity to study things more closely. The page also confirms a specific US ship date for the expansion: 26th October. Most of the rest of the world will probably get it around then too.

Vampires In Late Night Detailed

Wednesday 21st July 2010 | 2:58 pm UK time | Categories

Angie Newman, an EA representative for The Sims games, has given GamesRadar some further details about the vampires in The Sims 3 Late Night:

“You have to find a vampire in the world, befriend it, and then ask it to turn you into a vampire. You can then turn other Sims into vampires,” explains Newman. Late Night also includes a new Blood Line system, which will let you pass your vampirism onto your offspring. “So if a vampire and a vampire mate, it will for sure be a vampire baby. But if a vampire and a non-vampire mate, it might be a vampire or it might be a Sim. There’s no half-vampire, half-Sim babies.”

And what will you feed on once you’ve become a creature of the night? “They quench their thirst by eating plasma packs, drinking plasma from other Sims, or growing rare and awesome plasma fruits.”

Sounds like there’s a fair bit more to it than in The Sims 2 Nightlife.

EA Reveals The Sims 3 Late Night With Short Trailer

Tuesday 20th July 2010 | 10:32 pm UK time | Categories

EA has revealed the third expansion pack for The Sims 3, “Late Night” with a short trailer (below). Suggesting this has been rushed out following the leak last week or to coincide with their Studio Showcase today, there are no screenshots or even a final logo, and the only information is this from the video’s description:  “Get your Sims an all access pass to the hottest spots in town. What will your Sims get up to after dark?” …and this from a tweet about the video’s release: “For the first time ever, your Sims can experience late night fun as a VIP!”

If you watched the trailer, and paid attention, you’ll know it’ll be released in the Fall, or Autumn to give the season its proper name.

2011 Ford Fiesta Now Available For Free Download

Wednesday 14th July 2010 | 7:47 pm UK time | Categories

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is now available to download for free from The Sims 3 Store:

The 2011 Ford Fiesta gets the most out of every corner, thanks to the technical precision only a Ford-tuned suspension can offer. Now your Sims can experience the Ford Fiesta Movement when you download the 2011 Ford Fiesta car and Fiesta Urban Streetscape for FREE*! The Fiesta Urban Streetscape includes items for your Sims to use around town – the Fiesta Urban Style graffiti, Never Get Lost Again street sign, Maid o’ Meter parking space with meter, Hot Stuff Crossing! sign, and Street Struttin’ Street Light sign.

It only seems to be available on the US and Canada versions of, which is odd considering the terms on the page say that this offer is void in the US and Canada – unless of course I’m mis-interpreting them.
