Pets Reviews Wrap-Up

It’s time to wrap-up my The Sims 3 Pets reviews coverage. Unlike previous times, I’ll only be comparing the Metascore at Metacritic, as The Ranking at GameRankings is still only based on three reviews which isn’t really enough for a fair comparison. Among The Sims 3 expansion packs, Pets has the second highest Metascore at 79 (“Generally favorable reviews”) after World Adventures (81). It’s five points higher than Late Night and Ambitions, and a whole nine points higher than Generations. It doesn’t beat the base game which stands at 86, but neither has any previous expansion pack. If we compare it to The Sims 2 expansion packs, Pets looks better and better, as its ‘score is higher than every single one expect University! Click “Read more” or scroll down if you’re already on the full article page for a list of all the games mentioned and their Metascores.

This concludes my reviews coverage — I will not post news about any more reviews. Any reviews I come across will still be added to the game page though, a change that will of course be noted on the Updates page.

Personally I preferred Ambitions over World Adventures, but I can see how it wasn’t as appealing to some people.

But, now the consensus is on Pets and it comes out looking OK. As good as any other EP. True, nothing coming after vanilla will be able to pass it, but all combined the Expansions set the base game into A+ territory.

Hopefully as the EP releases dwindle down, EA will make more bugfixes for the game. As I understand it, that is when they fixed the most problems post-TS2 release.

As far as I recall EA only released one patch for The Sims 2 and for each of its expansion packs — that’s all that’s available on TheSims2.com anyway.
