Tuesday 29th January 2013 | 9:43 pm UK time | Categories

The Sims 3 University Life associate producer Brittany Henry has posted a new blog entry on explaining studying in the expansion:

Mondays and Wednesdays are devoted to seminar-style classes. These classes are held in one of the academic rabbit-hole buildings on campus, and can vary from Introduction to Dodging Questions to Methods and Practice of Tragic Clowns. While in seminar classes, you can choose from a variety of tones to set behavior of your Sims; tones will affect the amount of academic benefit your Sim gains from a class.

90s In 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff Discussed In New Blog Post

Friday 18th January 2013 | 8:26 pm UK time | Categories

The 90s in The Sims 3 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff are discussed in a new blog entry on

Video games, hip hop music and talk shows were all the rage in the 90s. But grunge was really where it was at. Although grunge music was first introduced in the 80s, it became commercially successful in the 90s and sparked a new wave of generational lifestyle. Inspired by this, The Sims Studio wanted to focus the 90s portion of this stuff pack on the unkempt and industrial look of the grunge 90s in both clothing and home décor.

Seasons Reviews Wrap-Up

Tuesday 15th January 2013 | 6:49 pm UK time | Categories

I think it’s about time I wrapped up my The Sims 3 Seasons reviews coverage. As usual I’ll compare the Metascore from Metacritic and Ranking from GameRankings to with those attained by previous expansion packs.

The Metascore stands at 74, “Mixed or average reviews”. This is the same ‘score as was attained by Supernatural, Late Night and Ambitions, and is higher than those attained by Showtime (67) and Generations (70). It is however lower than those attained by Pets (79) and World Adventures (81). 74 is the same Metascore that The Sims 2 expansion packs Bon Voyage and FreeTime attained, but is lower than that attained by all the others. The full list of sources with Metascores specified for each can be found at the bottom of the post — click Read more if you can’t see them.

The Ranking at GameRankings stands at 76.25%, which is higher than those attained by Showtime (73.12%), Generations (73.93%) and Ambitions (75.93%), but lower than those attained by all the others. Out of The Sims 2 expansion packs, only Nightlife (76.07%), Bon Voyage (73.44%) and FreeTime (76.20%) got lower Rankings, though some of those that are higher are only just so — Seasons is only about half a percent higher, Pets even less of a difference. Again, the full list of sources can found at the bottom of the post.

So this concludes my The Sims 3 Seasons reviews coverage — I will no longer post news about any reviews I find (bar possibly ones from particularly major sites such as GameSpot). I will however still add them to the Reviews tab on the game page and mention that change on the Updates page.

New Blog Post Introduces The Social Groups In University Life

Tuesday 15th January 2013 | 5:29 pm UK time | Categories

The Sims 3 University Life assistant producer Lauren McLemore has introduced the social groups in a new blog post on

Rebels enjoy going above and beyond the expected and then taking it one step further. Rebels are the Sims who will tag a wall on campus and then add herbs to the bonfire at a local party. You can find Rebels hanging out at The Grotto; a cool place where a Sim can enjoy a game of pool, work on their artistic skills, or savor an organic brew from the Barista Bar.

There are some really great clothing assets for women in this decade! Some of the most iconic looks are most appropriate for the gym, but we also have a prom dress, an 80’s grunge t-shirt, and a hot pink long sleeved shirt paired with a mini-skirt a really big belt.
