Latest Showtime Reviews: El33tonline, Rocket Chainsaw

Friday 23rd March 2012 | 12:20 am UK time | Categories

Two The Sims 3 Showtime reviews tonight. Firstly, El33tonline gave it “Good!” rating of three out of five:

The game has changed a lot since the original was  released, but in many ways has become so complex that  simply getting a Sim through his day to day routine  becomes very hard and tedious. When Real Life™ beckons  it just becomes harder and harder to focus on your Sims’ life.

And secondly, Rocket Chainsaw rated it seven out of 10:

It’s familiar, comfortable and as traditionally  expansive as you’d expect, for better or worse. Those  still holding off from jumping on The Sims hype train  won’t be sold by this expansion pack and are better off  waiting for The Sims 4, but for everybody else  dangerously addicted to living virtual lives you can’t  go wrong with more fun for everyone.

The Metascore at Metacritic has gone down another point to 72 (“Mixed or average reviews”), based on eight reviews.

Behind The Scenes Of Animating The Magicians In Showtime

Wednesday 21st March 2012 | 3:24 pm UK time | Categories

A new blog entry has been posted on TheSims3.com which goes behind the scenes of how they planned the animations of the magicians in The Sims 3 Showtime:

In order to make our magician Sims feel like ‘the real deal,’ we elicited the help of local magic-man Dan Paulus. We admired his special blend of comedy and magic and thought it would mesh perfectly with the zany world of The Sims. Dan was able to give us a private magic show in which we picked up some great tips of the trade. Ultimately, our team was able to come  out of the experience with much more than we had expected.

Latest Showtime Reviews: NZGamer.com

Monday 19th March 2012 | 3:22 pm UK time | Categories

Today’s The Sims 3 Showtime review comes from NZGamer.com, who rated it 7.5 out of 10, a rating described as “Good”:

Although a lot of the new content is pretty fun, unlike  some of the best expansions, Showtime doesn’t feel  particularly integrated with the rest of the Sims world,  an aspect I always look forward to when I get a new  expansion.

The Metascore at Metacritic remains 73 (“Mixed or average reviews”), but now based on seven reviews.

Latest Showtime Reviews: Metro, Digital Spy

Saturday 17th March 2012 | 2:27 pm UK time | Categories

I have a couple of The Sims 3 Showtime reviews for you today. First, Metro has rated it six out of 10:

Not the best expansion for The Sims 3, but still one  with some fun new extras and interesting ideas – many of  which hint at a new direction for the series.

> “The Sims 3: Showtime review – The X-Factor” at Metro

Second is Digital Spy, which gave it three stars out of five:

The Sims 3: Showtime is another solid addition to the  fold. With this being EA’s sixth add-on to the game,  fresh ideas are beginning to look thin on the ground  with concepts from previous packs re-emerging. That  said, Sims fanatics will always be hungry for new  content, so there’s no reason why this won’t be another  roaring success.

The Metascore at Metacritic has gone down a couple of points to 73 (“Mixed or average reviews”), based on six reviews.

Today’s The Sims 3 Showtime review comes from News10, who have given it a B grade:

So, is The Sims 3 Showtime worth getting after all of  that? Well, yes it is. It gives just enough to the  player to make it worth picking up and the new jobs, as  well as their play mechanics, are a good addition.

The Metascore at Metacritic remains 75 (“Generally favorable reviews”) based on five reviews.

I have one new The Sims 3 Showtime review for you today — The Guardian gave it a rating of three stars out of five:

For dedicated fans of the series, Showtime is a worthy  add-on, chock full of new diversions and clearly on a  mission to take its audience out of the bedroom and into  the wider world.

> “The Sims 3: Showtime – review” at The Guardian

Metacritic, who work out scores for games based on the ratings given by critics’ reviews (a sort-of weighted average), has now got enough reviews to give a Metascore — 75 out of 100, a score described as “Generally favorable reviews”, based on five reviews.

Blogcritics Gaming brings us today’s The Sims 3 Showtime review, giving it four stars out of five:

I would say that if you’re an experienced player looking  for more from the game, go ahead and get it, you’ll  enjoy yourself, but if you’re less experience/devoted  you won’t really be missing out on all that much.

Latest Showtime Reviews: GameZone, Game Chronicles

Thursday 8th March 2012 | 3:45 pm UK time | Categories

Another two The Sims 3 Showtime reviews for you today. Firstly GameZone, who gave it a “good” rating of 7.5 out of 10:

It’s a nice change to dream big with Showtime, but  unless you are really into show business or willing to  fully utilize the SimPort feature, you’ll probably find  little use in this expansion pack.

> “The Sims 3: Showtime review” at GameZone

Secondly Game Chronicles, who rated it an “Amazing” 8.5 out of 10:

As with the previous expansion packs, The Sims 3: Showtime provides many hours  of new content and storytelling options for those who enjoy The Sims 3, with the  additional perk of allowing players to interact with each other while they game.  Admittedly, many of the experiences might feel familiar if you’ve already played  previous expansions and Sims iterations, but it also brings back some fan  favorites and is all in all a decently solid addition to the Sims fan’s library.

This review features five new screenshots, which you’ll also be able to view on the game page, if you prefer, when they appear in the next few minutes.
