The Sims
The Sims is the original. According to various
sources, This game, created by Maxis and EA games, is the number 1 best selling
game ever.
Basically you control Sims (Simulated
people) around their daily lives. You start off by creating a family (or a single Sim) and then you build
their house. You then fill your house with furniture. Some time after that it
might be a good idea to get a job for 1 or more of your Sims so you can pay for
extensions, more furniture and bills.
The first The Sims expansion pack, gives you
not only four new neighbourhoods (useful, as one is most definitely not
enough), but lots of new objects for your sims to use as well.
The second expansion pack gives you another three neighbourhoods on to the five you get with Livin' It Up. It also gives you the
power to ring for parties and it gives you 100 new items.
This
is where it all starts to get a little hot! Hot Date brings you the power
(finally) to leave your house, and visit the new Downtown area. Here, you can
build lots with shops and restaurants, and visit them with your Sims and check
them out. You can also take your girl/boyfriends downtown for a romantic dinner
and "watch the sparks fly or fizzle". This expansion pack comes with 125+ new
objects.
On
Holiday gives you the power to, well, go on holiday! With the new Vacation
Island area you can build hotels, beach resorts and snowy log cabins. You can
visit you lots for as long as your simoleons (The Sims' Currency) can hold out!
You can also take you boy/girlfriend for a "romantic retreat". This expansion
pack comes with 125+ new objects.
Unleashed gives you the power to buy pets for
your Sims. It also extends all of your neighbourhoods for space for new
community lots (oh, by the way, the extended neighbourhood is called Old Town).
Community lots are a lot like downtown lots, (if you have Hot Date, you can
build shops from it in them) you can build shops cafes and parks in them. To buy
a cat or dog you visit a pet centre. You can also buy iguanas, tortoises and
birds. A cat or dog when brought becomes like part of the family, they appear in
the family gallery, and have needs and even relationships. However that doesn't
mean yon tell them what to do. This expansion pack comes with 125+ new items.
Superstar
gives you the power to become a, well, superstar! You start off by picking up
the new Tabloid, and selecting "Find Agent". You then pick up the phone and
select "Call cab / Go to Studio Town". A car comes and picks you up (like in Hot
Date, On Holiday and Unleashed). Then you're in Studio Town. You then select a lot
that has what you want to do. After that you do various things to get your self
up the slow walk to fame. Starting at no stars you work your way up, half a star
at a time. But it's not that simple, You also have to make celebrity friends
according to how much star power they have. This expansion pack comes with 150+
new objects.
Makin'
Magic is the last EVER The Sims 1 expansion pack. But it's also probably the
best! As the name says, you get to make magic, some good, some not so good, but
still great! Your Sims start by finding a mysterious package on their door step,
full of useful spell making equipment including the ingredients for your first
spell. (For a full list of spells, charms and where to get their ingredients,
check out the Magic section) You then use the spell maker and
your new wand (both come free in the package) to make your first spell, which allows
you to turn people into toads. To make other spells and charms (another sort of
magic) you need ingredients, which can mostly be found by jumping down the hole (included in the package)
or taking a balloon to go as a family (Use the telephone and click Call Cab / Go
to Magic Town ). You will find carnivals, shops, and mini roller coasters when
you arrive. As with Hot Date
and beyond, you can modify these lots if you wish. There is even 3 houses there
you could move to. But you must save up the magic coins (magical currency used
to buy magical stuff like ingredients) in order to move here. This expansion
pack includes a whopping 175+ new objects!
