Get your Sims an all-access pass to the hottest
spots in town. Whether they mingle with celebrities
or enjoy a casual night with friends, your Sims’
social lives are getting a boost! But keep in mind
that some scenes are more exclusive than others, so
make sure your Sims have the right connections to
get past the bouncers at the hottest clubs.
Wherever your Sims go, they’ll discover new
things to become—adored celebrities, all-night
partiers, rowdy bandmates, or sexy vampires.
What will your Sims get up to after dark?
Hang out at the hottest spots in
town, from dive bars to dance clubs to chic
lounges, complete with bouncers.
Gain fame and fortune as a
member of a music band, mixologist, director, or
local celebrity.
Explore certain areas of town
in the thick of the night and you may be
initiated into the dark life of a vampire.
Gain excess to exclusive areas and
enjoy celebrity perks like penthouse living,
luxury hot tubs and cars.
On one hand, it's disappointing that The Sims 3: Late
Night isn't as noteworthy as the previous expansions. On
the other, it's so much fun to grab your bandmates and
go out for a night on the town, grooving and gabbing
with the rich and famous, that you might temporarily
forget you've seen some of this stuff before.
Another solid expansion for The Sims 3 that, while not
changing any fundamental aspects of the game, provides
yet more charming ways for your little computer people
to fail or succeed in their virtual lives.
Yes, we have another Sims expansion that adds less to
the game than previous iterations, but is still fun to
play. By now the amount of content is getting so much
that you probably won’t use half of it. But then a true
Sims fan will never have enough, and EA will be ready to
provide us with our next fix.
To be perfectly frank, I’m annoyed by the separation
between urban and suburban neighborhoods because it
doesn’t make sense in real-world terms and isn’t
consistent with the add-on nature of an expansion.
Barring that, however, Late Night is a solid expansion
that builds upon the complexity that makes the Sims
series so enjoyable and is a worthwhile addition to any
Sims fan’s collection.
And like all great Sims expansion packs, once you’ve
finished thrashing out all the new features, the real
prize lies in discovering all the new and weird ways in
which the changes ripple out through the rest of the
game.
Overlooking the fact you might have to start from
scratch, there is a ton of content to ensure your time
spent with the Sims will borderline on the obsessive.
The celebrity, rock star and vampire aspects change up
the gameplay enough to keep it fresh even for those who
have dedicated an unhealthy amount of hours to the game.
It’s a welcome addition the
Sims 3
family and one that’s executed to the high standards
that we’ve come to expect. A must buy for fans of the
series, but it’ll do little for convincing sceptics.
Then again, Late Night
wasn’t built for the naysayers; it was built for those
that enjoy crafting imaginary lives.
But you have to give EA some credit for cramming hours of content into this
package, and if no amount of money would come between you and your virtual
families, Late Night will probably keep you busy for quite some time – at least
until the next expansion hits.
Despite the somewhat awkward
integration of its new features The Sims 3: Late Night
is another fan-pleasing addition to the series. Needless
to say, more bells and whistles aren't going to convert
anyone who was unconvinced by the main game, but there
are plenty more hours of gameplay for the diehards to
sink their fangs into.
I think Late Night may be the
best Sims 3
expansion pack yet in terms of refreshing the game and
building on to what already makes The Sims
so great. For people who are looking for a new way to
play the game, much like how World Adventures was with
the added puzzles and adventures, you won’t find it here
but I don’t consider that a shortcoming of the EP.
The expansion packs that have been released so far for
The Sims 3 have been meatier than expansions from the
previous iterations of the franchise, and Night Life
[sic] continues the tradition. It really raises the bar
for what we expect out of a Sims expansion, and even
though this one is coming only four months after the
last one (instead of the usual six to eight months), it
really holds its own.
When compared to the already-available expansion
packs for The Sims 3 (Ambitions
and World Adventures),
Late Night is easily the
best of the three. The expansion's celebrity status
factor finally gives your sims characters a good
reason to leave the house that isn't work related
and it enhances the virual [sic] social aspects of
the base game.
