Play with the change of seasons! With The Sims 3 Seasons Expansion
Pack, you can let your Sims swim in the ocean
on a hot summer day, bob for apples in the autumn
leaves, test their snowboarding skill on the half
pipe or welcome spring showers with a walk in the
rain and a colorful umbrella. All-new activities,
like soccer, and big seasonal festivals and
celebrations bring the spirit of each season to
life. Your Sims can pucker up at the kissing booth
at the spring festival or see what Halloween
surprises await in the haunted house. Dress for the
weather with seasonal fashions ranging from
raincoats to snow gear. With new foods, décor and
weather effects, your Sims can enjoy the bounty and
beauty of the ever-changing seasons and play with
life like never before!
Key Features
Delight your Sims with new activities for
every season: Whether building an intimate
igloo, carving a scary Jack o’ lantern, taking a
plunge off the diving board or setting off all-new
fireworks, your Sim can always find new things to do
throughout the year.
Join the fun with seasonal festivals:
Sims can get in a snowball fight at the
annual winter festival, get their faces painted at
the summer festival, whoop it up at the spring dance
or bob for apples during the fall festival.
Experience the joy and challenge of changing
weather: New weather effects and Sim
reactions capture the power and beauty of nature!
Sims can get a tan, be struck by lightning or catch
a cold!
Bring the outdoors inside: Your Sim
can now learn the recipe for pumpkin pie or style
their home with new furniture and décor. There are a
host of new items to ring in each season. Get a
tanning booth in time for summer or ring in the
holiday spirit with house lights and decorations.
Dress for the weather: Outfit your
Sim in new styles for the season, including snow
gear, wetsuits, raincoats, umbrellas and new
Halloween costumes!
Welcome mysterious visitors: New
weather patterns aren’t the only things appearing in
the sky! Befriend an alien visitor and use their UFO
to abduct a neighbor, invade a community lot or
travel to the stars.
If you find yourself playing The Sims 3 a lot anyway,
then Seasons will add something to the experience. If
you are waiting for a new expansion to make you get back
into playing The Sims 3, however, skip Seasons and wait
for the next one.
All in all, I found Sims 3: Seasons to be an enjoyable
addition to the franchise, though it's not as exciting
as some of its predecessors. The changing of the seasons
has the gradualness, unpredictability and subtlety of
real life and makes your sims' world that much closer to
reality.
An okay expansion with a major flaw becomes a massively
flawed expansion. I really wanted to love this one
and I started to, as soon as I saw all the detail and
effects that were put into it. I was incredibly
impressed by the Aliens as soon as I was able to get my
grubby mitts on one and I wasn’t too badly put off by
the lack of activities. But when I realized that
my beloved Gardening was going to be so heavily
impacted, I was completely turned off.
Like I said, it's not a game-changer in that it doesn't
add a substantial amount of additional game-play beyond
visiting the festival. But it's one of the most fun and
picturesque expansion packs to join the collection for
The Sims 3, which makes it a nice refresher to a game
that's been around for more than three years.
The Sims 3 Seasons is an impressive expansion pack that
provides a variety of both gameplay improvements and new
content. Each of the four seasons and various weather
types result in a more dynamic and engaging gameplay
experience that's perfect for both Sims enthusiasts and
newcomers to the series.
Unlike most expansion packs for the Sims franchise, The
Sims 3 Seasons isn’t one that requires you to already be
a fan to understand and appreciate its changes to the
game. It’s a solid gateway expansion that builds on the
rules without overwhelming you, but still adds enough
variety that you’ll never want to play without it.
Even if you've played it to death already, the simple
application of weather and seasonal content guarantees
plenty more mileage from the original game. A good
stocking filler for the fans.
Still, this add-on undoubtedly infuses a three-year-old
game with new life, and it’s, by far, the strongest of
the eight. At a suggested retail price of $39.99, The
Sims 3 Seasons is one of the pricier expansion packs,
but it’s hard to imagine a Sims 3 fan missing out on
this one, even with its foibles.
While the vast majority of the gameplay remains the
same, the fact that Sims are affected by different
environmental factors adds a new dynamic to the game,
and the new festivals bring activities that change with
the seasons. The Sims 3 Seasons is a ‘must buy’
expansion for the evergrowing series and will change the
life of your Sim.
In short, this expansion falls slightly short of how
interesting and deeply embedded the Supernatural
expansion was. That said, Seasons
supplies a depth to what can feel like an
endless sunny crawl of hours and minutes in The
Sims 3. For that, the change of pace is well
worth the price of admission.
After a few decidedly superfluous Sims Expansions and
Stuff Packs, it’s gratifying to see the development back
on track. For the most part, the changes in Seasons are
satisfying, providing an entertaining swath of
supplements which not only will remind gamers of Sims
3’s strengths, but also the natural magnificence of
mother nature.
Despite those few issues, The Sims 3: Seasons is the
strongest expansion yet. Whether you’ve been playing
consistently for three years or your Sims have been long
abandoned, this expansion makes the game feel new again.
Overall, The Sims 3 Seasons is one of the
best expansions the game has received in quite a
while. The simple addition of weather adds a breath
of fresh air into the now three-year-old game. The
only problem is now that we have seasons, where does
EA go from here?
