I had to factory reset my windows 7 HP. I followed the order of
installation but it says to play off of the Best of Business CD
instead of The Mansions and Gardens disk. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled both...changed my exe from launcher to EP9 and even
tried comparability to do 2 & 3. I had the issue when I first
installed them as well but forget what I did to fix it. Can you
please help? It is bad enough I lost a years hard work when I
tried to move my saved info to flash drive and back. My answer: If you have installed all of the expansion and stuff packs you should
need to play using either the Apartment Life disk or the Mansion
& Garden Stuff disk (the latter was released later but I don't
know whether you use it to play). If it's told you to use the
Best of Business disk when attempting to play using the Mansion
& Garden Stuff disk, and doing so doesn't work, and it won't run
using the Apartment Life disk either, then I'm afraid I don't
know what the problem is.

what would be the probably My answer: I don't have experience of The Sims Complete Collection but I don't
recall the original game having any built-in mechanism for
checking for updates so I'm surprised to read it's telling you
it needs to update. You shouldn't have to re-install everything
to update anyway, unless you're saying you can't update so
you're re-installing everything so it will let you play again?

made, but haven't even played half of them. so since it's close
to Christmas I thought I would give the Christmas party pack a
go. so I uninstalled all other expansions and put this disc in,
it come up 'installing' now it's nowhere to be seen? every time
I remove the disc and put the disc back in it says 'already
installed'.. I have also tried the festive holiday stuff
expansion pack and it is doing the same. even though it says
it's installed it just won't run. I have tried restarting the
computer and the problem still persists. could you please help
me?
thank you. My answer: I'm confused why you uninstalled the other expansion packs? There's no
need to do that and may (I can't remember for definite) cause
your save data to be unusable (or at least all content from the
packs will be lost). The Christmas Party Pack disk isn't used to
play the game (if I remember rightly) so you would need to use
the base game disk to play if no other expansion packs or stuff
packs are installed, otherwise the most recent one of those.
Festive Holiday Stuff actually replaced the Christmas Party Pack
and contains all the same items plus a few more that could be
purchased separately at the time on EA's download service (it
probably wasn't Origin then). I don't know whether the Festive
Holiday Stuff disk is used to play the game or not but if it's
not working it may be worth trying the base game to play instead
(if no other expansion or stuff packs are installed). Or try
reinstalling all the expansion packs you uninstalled then play
with the disk of the most recent of those.

have tried cleaning the disk.I read the manual and tried all
those options but it just wont work. Im hopeless ! My answer: If you've tried another disk and that worked (therefore ruling out the
disk drive as faulty) I can only assume there is something wrong
with the disk. If you bought it fairly recently the retailer
should (I think) exchange it in that case, otherwise you may
have to buy a new copy. That's all I can suggest remotely I'm
afraid.

com (the luncher says I have installed all packs this is untrue)
I have reinstalled 3 times I have searched my com for sims 2
files and deleted all of them is there any help you can give me? My answer: Sorry Sloth but I have not heard of this problem before. I don't know
why it would ever say that you need a specific pack installed to
play, unless you were trying to play with that disk inserted.
Have you tried contacting EA? If so there's not really anything
else I can suggest.
When trying to start up sims it is telling me
to install something and i don't know what it is.

the last few years, but i'm now having a problem with The Sims
Superstar expansion pack. I've uninstalled/reinstalled etc and
updated my directx and graphics drivers, but every time I open
the Sims Superstar (it loads the front cover "re-reticulating
splines" bit fine,) when the neighbourhood opens, the graphics
are wrong, and the top bar of the screen is copied onto the rest
of the screen as it blinks in and out, though the music is fine!
The EA website no longer has any support for sims 1 whatsoever!!
Please can you help? My answer: I'm afraid I can't help really. Have you tried contacting EA? If not,
go to the Help Centre,
click "Talk to a Game Advisor" on the right then log in with
your EA/Origin account (if you don't already have one you'll
have to create one). On the next page, type "The Sims" in the
box and select it from the list that appears. Then select "The
Sims" from the next drop-down menu. You'll then get a button you
can click to email them and a number to ring if you'd prefer to
talk on the phone. Unfortunately The Sims is very old now and
has been superseded not once but twice, so I wouldn't be too
surprised if they aren't able to help you. I'm sorry I can't be
more help.

and installing custom content for the sims 2 games.. I'm running
winodows vista. I have apartment life free time pets seasons
universitry life colleection set, open for business bon voyage
family fun stuff sims 2 deluxe and the sims 2 holiday stuff
pack.
My problem is it automatically brings up winzip and the only
option is to extract it each time. plus it likes to switch from
the mydocuments/eagames/thesims2/downloads to Kate AppData
Local Tempwz8da3 folder. half the time most of it doesn't show
up in the game. how can I fix this? kate My answer: So your problem is that WinZip is automatically extracting your custom
content downloads to the wrong place? I wouldn't know how to
stop it doing that since I refuse to use WinZip - did you know
that Windows Vista (and XP, and 7) can create, open and extract
Zip files itself? My suggestion would be to uninstall WinZip,
then Zip files should open with Windows instead.
If they don't, the uninstaller
has probably failed to reset the file type to open with Windows
- to fix that, find a zip file that's already on your computer
(or save a Zip file your downloading rather than open it) and
try to open it from there. If you're told that Windows can't
open this file, select "Select a program from a list of
installed programs" then click OK. If an error message comes up
as it's still trying to open WinZip, try right clicking the file
then select Open With instead. Hopefully the window that comes
up will have either Windows Explorer or something like
"Compressed (Zip) Folder". If it does, select that, tick the box
to "Always use the selected program...", then click OK.
If you've now managed to open a
Zip file, you just need to either click "Extract all files",
click the button to browse for the The Sims 2 Downloads folder
then click Extract, or open the The Sims 2 Downloads folder in
another window then drag the files over (or copy and paste
them).

installed a game from a flash drive before (and was not aware
The Sims 3 allowed you to do so), but I would guess you would
just need to open the flash drive by going to (My) Computer and
double-clicking the flash drive in question (if this launches a
different program or installer, cancel that then right-click the
drive and select Explore or Open), then if that doesn't launch
the installer, looking for and double-clicking a file called
setup or similar (the file will be called Sims3Setup.exe if the
files are the same as on the DVD version). I hope this helps.

ones for the base game and the packs that make up the University
Life Collection to be included and installed automatically as
part of the collection's installation - the installation of the
University patch probably doesn't work as it won't be expecting
the expansion to have been installed as part of a collection,
plus you already have the patch anyway. Unfortunately I've never
heard of the "simwardrobes arcade games" so I can't help you
with that.

thank you. My answer: Assuming you do have the Mac version of the game and not the PC
version, have you tried the instruction manual? That normally
tells you what to do if the game won't run automatically. If
not, look for a setup or similar file. Unfortunately I've
practically never used a Mac so don't know how you actually go
about installing games on them, so if this doesn't help I can
only suggest you try contacting Aspyr through their
Support
Center who (I would hope) should be able to help you.

download one? My answer: It sounds like your computer may not meet the minimum system
requirements. If you know the name of the graphics card (if you
purchased the PC from Dell it should have said), see if it is
listed under Supported Video Cards
here. If it is, I can only suggest you try contacting EA
through
their customer support website - click Email Us on the left
under Support Links, you'll need an EA Account. If it isn't, you
may have to buy a new graphics card. Unfortunately graphics
cards are physical things so you can't download them. Try
searching the internet for
"NVIDIA GeForce" or "ATI Radeon" followed by one of what is
listed below on that System Requirements page. I would guess the
lower numbered ones are probably cheaper but worse. I hope this

Unleashed, I think there might be some sort of trainer or

help meXp My answer: After having a quick look through, I've found two pages on the US
Support website that might be relevant -
one about problems in Windows Vista, and
one specifically about problems saving, but doesn't mention
Vista. I would recommend trying the Windows Vista solution
first.
If that doesn't help with the
saving problem, then try following the instructions in the
saving problems article. You can probably ignore the stuff about
account types as that should have been sorted already. Bear in
mind that when it talks about searching, that is done directly
in the Start menu using the box rather than by clicking a Search
or Find button as it says there. You may need to click the
Search Everywhere link at the bottom (once search text has been
typed in), then in the new window, click Advanced Search, change
the location to Computer and tick the box by "Include
non-indexed...".
If you still have problems I
can only suggest you try contacting EA about the problem. It
looks like there's a support email address and phone number on
this page of the EA Portugal website.

to reinstall Double Deluxe, as apparently this is "caused
by a corrupted installation or registry entry for the game".

left there - you'll need an EA Account if you don't already have

does not recongise it. Do have any solutions to the problem. My answer: What do you mean by "does not recognise it"? If the computer literally
doesn't think a disk is there, there may be a problem with the
disk drive. If you get disk read errors, the disk may be
scratched or need cleaning. If nothing happens when you insert
the disk, it could even be that auto-run isn't working. Try
going into (My) Computer and see if the disk is there. If so,
right click it and choose explore, then double-click an "AutoRun",
"Install", "Setup" or similar executable file.

doubtful that getting another copy of the game would fix the problem. All I can

loved it. When I started playing Sims 2 I noticed it was considerably slower
than Sims 1. So much that I don't enjoy playing it. I was just wondering if
others have noticed this too or if it's just my game. Is this pretty typical of
Sims 2, is that just the speed of the game? I bought this game used so I thought
that might be the problem. Perhaps I could buy an expansion game and it would
play better?? Or should I just purchase a new game? My answer: Assuming you're referring to the PlayStation 2 version as your message
subject suggests, I'm afraid I've never played it, so I don't know what
differences there are in speed, although I doubt buying it used (compared to
buying it new) would have an effect, unless it's a counterfeit. There are no
expansion packs for the PS2 version, as such a thing isn't really possible on
consoles. Similar named games such as The Sims 2 Pets are completely separate
games on that platform.
If you are referring to the PC
version, then it would be slower than The Sims 1 as it is more
complex. If it is too slow you need to upgrade your PC.
Unfortunately adding an expansion pack would just make it worse.

Kate My answer: This sounds like a bug. If you haven't saved since this started, you
could try quitting to the neighbourhood (without saving) then returning to the
household. If you're playing The Sims 1, you could also try turning on the
move_objects cheat (press ctrl, shift and c at the same time to bring up the
cheat box, type "move_objects on" (no quotes) then press enter), deleting your
Sims then clicking on their pictures to bring them back (remember to turn off
the cheat afterwards by typing "off" instead of "on"). Unfortunately this
doesn't work in The Sims 2. Another thing you could try is moving the Sims out
of their house then move them back in again. I hope this helps.

Thanks! My answer: In you My Documents folder, you should have a folder called "EA Games".
Simply copy the "The Sims 2" folder within to an alternative memory device (ZIP
Disk, USB Memory Stick, CD-Rom, another hard-drive). Once you have reformatted
your PC, install The Sims 2 and the same expansion packs you had installed
before (no more no less). Run the game once, then close it. Overwrite the
"The Sims 2" folder within the "EA Games" folder in My Documents with the one
you copied to your memory device. Hopefully, that'll work. I don't see why it
wouldn't, but I can't test it! If it doesn't work, I apologise!

the same problem as me when installing the patch for The Sims 2. The problem
being that after it was! finished installing University it would ask you to
insert disc 4 for updates. I did and the message "Unable to copy from disc"

Nightlife allows you have your own car though. As I said I
think you're mistaking me for Maxis, I'm just a fifteen year old
(at time of writing) who runs a fan site, I'm not at all
connected to Maxis and unable to lower prices in the game.
Besides, I think Maxis got the prices in the game just right! By

downloaded lots of content (clothes, hair styles) etc - i put everything in sims
downloads file as was exp! lained on the site. It says everything is installed
ok - they were zipped files. Two of the files were package installer - the rest
are not. But when I go into the gane nothing is there!! HELP - maybe i have not

when I got to play the game a message comes up saying some needed files were
corrupted and to reinsta! ll The Sims 2. I uninstalled both and reinstalled them
twice and I'm still getting the same message. What can i do to fix this? I got
the game off Ebay from Thailand, the game is the Thai version but had
instructions to install in English. Like I said it installed fine but won't open
program. Help please if you can! The EA support site doesn't have anythign on

problem such as not being able to access a neighbourhood before! Have you tried

the screen smaller ! than usual..i go to the game prefrences to make the screen
bigger but the only screen size i have 800x600. My Answer: Most The Sims 2 fansites will tell you what to do with their meshes! Look
for "Help" or "FAQ's" in the fan site's menu, or on the first page of the
appropriate sections, as examples. Do you mean the game doesn't fill the whole
screen or the screen resolution is too small? If it's the first, I don't know
what the problem could be! If it's the latter, I don't know why your game is
only allowing 800 × 600! Just an idea, but maybe your game thinks your monitor
and video card wouldn't support a higher resolution?

Mcmillan Date: 26 July 2005 Question: I have two problems - first one is with sims 1 - i downloaded houses and
sims from a website (cant remember which one) now whenever i try to get into the
famili! es screen on some of the eight screens as soon as i try to go in the
computer crashes and throws me out on to desktop. I have uninstalled and
installed all sims 1 game again including all expansion packs but it still does
it. Is it corrupt? anything I can do about this?? My second question is that I
have started going back to play sims 1 as sims 2 is far too slow opening up and
going on to different screens e.g. the commercial lots - anything I can do about
this? and does it mean when the new nightlife comes out it will make the game go
even slower? i have bought new RAM for the game and my other problem is (sorry!)
that whenver i hold a party i can only ever invite two guests - HELP PLEASE!! My answer: I've had that problem before, but not because I downloaded houses, as I have
never done that on The Sims 1. Have you tried removing the houses from the
userdata folder and replacing them with copies of the same lots from another
userdata folder? I hope that doesn't sound too complicated to you! You could try
the EA Support Centre as an alternative and see if that helps! Nightlife may
make the game run slower. You may simply need a faster computer. I think the
number of guests you can invite to parties may be determined by the amount of
sims already on the lot. The game may think that more than two guests will make
the game run too slow. I hope that's all helped you!

can install them in any order you want. But if possible, it would be best to
install them in the right order. Yes, it is simply an expansion pack, you won't
lose any families or houses from before you install one, you only gain, you
